Highlights from June 22nd Regular Council Meeting
The newly elected Arcadia Council held its first Regular Council meeting on Monday June 22nd.
Council has elected a new Deputy Mayor for the next 2 years. Congratulations Deputy Mayor Sheila Black!
Some of the key decisions made by Council include:
- Approval of sponsorship funding for local community groups and events: Christmas in the Village (November 2026), Strawberry Festival (June 2026), Queens County Fair (October 2026), Gagetown Legion New Years Levee (January 2026), and Life at the Lakes (August 2026)
- Acceptance of a gifting agreement from the Department of Natural Resources for equipment being donated to our five local fire departments
- Approval of the use of the Pines Conservation Park for Movies in the Park this summer
- Noise By-law Exemptions were approved for multiple upcoming events around Arcadia including Movies in the Park, Strawberry Festival, and the Queens County Fair
- The first and second reading was approved for the Draft By-law No. 11 A By-law Designating Streets Accessible to All-Terrain Vehicles, which saw an update to the maximum speed limit
- Acceptance of a land donation in Gagetown
- Approval of funding requests for students attending SHAD Canada
- Support for a MERGE project RFP to develop policies, GIS mapping, and an implementation plan to support improvements to solid waste collection across Arcadia
